The NTT IndyCar Series will take on a new venue during the 2026 season after partnering with the Dallas Cowboys and Texas Rangers.
According to an announcement on Monday, the Roger Penske-owned racing series will head to Arlington, Texas, for the Grand Prix of Arlington. This event will be in March 2026, and it will feature the IndyCar teams competing on the streets that wind through Arlington's sports and entertainment district.
According to the newly launched Grand Prix of Arlington website, the course will be 2.73 miles long. It will feature 14 turns as the best drives in IndyCar put on a show for Texas sports fans. The race weekend will also feature the Indy NXT feeder series.
The NTT IndyCar Series previously competed at nearby Texas Motor Speedway, a 1.5-mile paved oval between 1997-2023.
"We are thrilled to join forces with the Texas Rangers, Penske Entertainment, and the city of Arlington to bring Grand Prix racing to the streets of the Arlington Entertainment District," said Cowboys owner Jerry Jones in a statement.
"The collaboration between our organizations will make the IndyCar Grand Prix of Arlington special, providing a unique NTT IndyCar Series race experience for fans attending, while also creating a showcase with our friends at Fox and those watching around the world. An event of this magnitude is another great reflection of what we imagined over 15 years ago that AT&T Stadium could be a part of."
Bill Miller, former president of California Speedway and former senior vice president of operations of SEMA, will oversee the planning and preparation for the inaugural event. He will be the Grand Prix of Arlington president as the high-profile event draws closer.
IndyCar teams have regularly competed on a variety of street courses throughout the series' history. This includes such locations as Long Beach, Detroit, Edmonton, St. Petersburg, and Nashville.
However, Arlington is on a different scale considering that the Dallas Cowboys are the NFL's most profitable franchise. The organization is worth $11 billion, per CNBC, and it brings literal "star power" to the open wheel racing series.
"Through a truly remarkable and innovative partnership, we're going to build racing's next global spectacle," said Roger Penske. "Everyone involved is fully committed to delivering an incredible and unique event weekend for the city of Arlington, anchored by the stars of the NTT IndyCar Series.
"We're grateful to the Cowboys, Rangers and REV Entertainment for entering into this partnership with us, and, of course, to Arlington's leadership team for their excitement and ongoing support."
