Carl Edwards joining Prime Video as analyst

Carl Edwards is set to join Prime Video this season as an analyst for the streamer's five-race Cup Series schedule.

Jordan Bianchi of The Athletic broke the news on Tuesday. He spoke to Edwards, who said that he would join Prime Video's pre- and post-race coverage. The Hall of Famer will work alongside host Danielle Trotta and fellow analyst Corey LaJoie while discussing the season's biggest storylines.

Prime Video later confirmed the report with a press release.

"I want to share with the fans what might be going on inside of that helmet, inside of that car," Edwards told Bianchi. "I want to ask the drivers, before, after, maybe away from the track, 'What's going on? What is really driving you?

"What are your fears? What are your hopes? What are the difficulties? What are the things that you're so good at that maybe aren't obvious for someone just watching the racing?'"

Prime Video has steadily built out its broadcast team while preparing for its foray into the NASCAR Cup Series. Edwards is the latest -- and most high-profile -- example.

The streamer brought in veteran Adam Alexander to provide play-by-play. Alexander will add these duties to a schedule already featuring all of the Xfinity Series races on CW.

Dale Earnhardt Jr. and Steve Letarte will both join Alexander in the booth to work as analysts. This duo has experience together from their time at NBC Sports, calling races alongside Rick Allen and Jeff Burton.

According to Bianchi, more announcements are on the way from Prime Video. The insider noted that veteran pit reporters Marty Snider and Kim Coon will both join the streamer for its five-race schedule. Both have experience providing updates from pit road for NBC Sports. Coon also works on the CW's coverage of Xfinity races.

The third person joining the pit reporter lineup, per the report, is former Daytona 500 winner Trevor Bayne. He has helped call ARCA and Xfinity Series races for Fox Sports, but he will now head to pit road for NASCAR's top series.
