Axalta reveals two 2025 schemes for William Byron

The 2024 playoffs are in full swing, but some sponsors are providing a look toward the future. Axalta, in particular, revealed two of William Byron's schemes for the 2025 Cup Series season.

The Raptor scheme has the same colors as the one used by Byron this season. The green and gray take up prominent space on the No. 24 Chevrolet Camaro.

However, where the two schemes differ is the layout. This season's primary Raptor scheme had a green base with gray accents. Next year's scheme has a gray base with green and silver accents.

The Axalta scheme has an old-school feel to it. It features a blue base with a red hood. Massive flames start at the front of the car and move backward. A second set of flames are on the rear of the car, and they serve as the background for an Axalta logo.

This scheme bears similarities to those used by Jeff Gordon during the latter parts of the Hall of Famer's career. For example, Gordon's Chevrolet SS had multiple Axalta schemes with flames during the 2014 season. One featured a black base while another had a red base.

Byron actually ran an Axalta flame scheme earlier this season. He used the Goodyear 400 at Darlington Raceway to showcase a Gordon throwback from the 2009 season.

Dubbed "Firestorm," the original version of the scheme was designed by legendary artist Sam Bass. The main difference between the two schemes is that Gordon's said DuPont while Byron's said Axalta.

Fast-forward to 2025. Byron will now showcase schemes designed by Noah Sweet, the artist behind multiple designs on the No. 24 Chevrolet and numerous other cars competing in NASCAR.

"Noah might legitimately be the best designer in NASCAR (right now)," one person posted on X, the platform formerly known on Twitter.

Many other NASCAR fans joined in the conversation and praised Sweet's design skills. They specifically highlighted the Axalta scheme and the way it provided a throwback feel while still looking modern.
