Nitrocross, the racing series where cars fly, has announced that it will pause its current season and will not continue with the remaining three events.
The racing series, which action sports star Travis Pastrana spearheaded, announced the news with a statement on its website. The statement said that fans who purchased tickets to the three remaining events will automatically receive a refund from the Tixr platform.
Now in its fourth full season of championship competition, Nitrocross has already completed race weekends at Richmond Raceway and Utah Motorsports Campus. The events that will not take place as scheduled are in Phoenix, Miami, and Las Vegas.
"We believe deeply in the potential of Nitrocross to lead motorsports into the next generation and are proud of the legacy it has already established," a statement provided to AltDriver said.
"However, we have determined that a new vision is required for the brand's long-term future and have made the difficult decision to pause the current 2024/25 season, which includes the upcoming race weekends scheduled for Phoenix, Miami, and Las Vegas.
"Any further news on the 2024/2025 season will be communicated at the appropriate time. Our commitment to delivering a groundbreaking, innovative motorsports experience remains unwavering and we look forward to sharing new updates about the brand and the sport soon."
Two-time Group E champion Robin Larsson led the standings after the race weekend in Utah. Oliver Erikson, Andreas Bakkerud, Fraser McConnell, and Tanner Foust were the other drivers in the top five.
The Nitrocross season featured more than just the top-level Group E class with its all-electric FC1-X race cars. The race weekends also included the NEXT EVO category with its new FC2 car powered by fossil-free fuels. Can-Am side-by-sides and Volkswagen Beetles also competed in races at the purpose-built tracks.

The current season of Nitrocross featured the addition of multiple partners. The list includes Busch Light, Monster Energy, and Dodge. The latter partner began fielding a new car for Dreyer & Reinbold Racing based on the production Hornet.
Nitrocross teams responded to the pause by issuing a statement on Thursday, in which they expressed disappointment.
"The Nitrocross Team Principals Association (NTPA) is disappointed by Thrill One's recent decision to pause the Nitrocross series," the statement said. "This decision has significant impacts on our teams, their staff, drivers, and the fans who have passionately supported Nitrocross."
